DANCE CLASSES IN COOKHAM

Welcome to the Cookham Dance Club

Penny’s Dance Classes are held at the  Pinder Hall, Lower Road, Cookham, SL6 9HF.  Classes are on Monday evenings. The Pinder Hall has a large sprung floor which is perfect for dancing.

The classes are taught by Penny Bysshe, assisted by her husband, Peter, who organises the music.

It is easier to learn and understand how to do the steps and routines if they are demonstrated by a couple. Penny and Peter demonstrate the steps and routines for all the classes.

7.30-8.30 pm – Advanced Class
8.30-9.30 pm – Beginners Class

What to Wear

It is best to wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily when you dance. Shoes with a small heel that fit well are recommended for ladies. Sling back shoes are not recommended. It is best not to wear trainers or shoes that have rubber soles as they tend to stick to the floor. If possible, men should wear shoes that have leather soles.

Video Routines

Dancers are encouraged to video demonstrations of the routines and steps taught in the classes. Watching the videos between classes speeds up the learning process and helps you to remember the steps.

Videos taken during classes are for personal use only.

Costs

£10.00 per person per class in cash.

Client Reviews

We wanted to learn to dance and now we can thanks to Penny. We started in Penny’s beginner’s class and moved up to the Improvers class. I can thoroughly recommend both to anyone who wants to learn the basics or improve their social dancing.

Over the years we have attended a number of Ballroom and Latin dance lessons in the Maidenhead area. For us, Penny’s lessons are the best and certainly the most enjoyable. We attend classes not to compete or strive for medals, but to allow us to enjoy and participate in social dances. Penny’s group classes aim to do just that.

Penny and her dance partner Peter demonstrate the dance move and talk through the move before breaking the steps down into a manageable sequence of steps. In addition Penny ensures that there is plenty of opportunity to practise the steps both in the lessons and at organised dance socials

As a nerve wracked total novice I started with some private lessons with Penny. Her friendly professional approach convinced me that I didn’t actually have two left feet and no ability, I was just lacking confidence. Soon I was tripping the light fantastic with a lovely group of fellow learners in her beginners’ class. Highly enjoyable all round. Thankyou Penny! (and Peter!)

My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Penny on the dance floor in dance classes and have also taken private lessons. Penny is very clear and patient and always very willing to go over something as many times as required, which to us is very important. We don’t hesitate in highly recommending taking dancing lessons with Penny at Cookham Dance Club.

There is absolutely no other teacher quite so dedicated and keen to have her students enjoy the classes so much. Penny has the patience of a saint and gives just the right lessons to the ability of the class she’s teaching. Go on…try dancing even if you think you have “two left feet”.  Penny and Peter are the best around.
Mrs M of Cookham

Penny is a great teacher and has the knack of encouraging even the least confident dancers to believe in themselves. Her classes are fun and relaxed, building on achievement week by week. A spacious venue and a great, friendly no-pressure atmosphere.
